Free admission every first Sunday

What's special: every first Sunday of the month, admission is free for all children and young people. This allows young Berliners and visitors to the city to discover the impressive architecture and history of the Französischer Dom without having to pay an entrance fee.

Audio guide for exciting discoveries

For just €3.00, you can book an audio guide that tells you interesting facts about the history of the cathedral, its surroundings, and the sights visible from above. The audio guide is suitable for both children and adults and makes the visit an informative experience for the whole family.

Education meets experience at Gendarmenmarkt

The Französischer Dom was built between 1701 and 1705, with the characteristic dome added later between 1780 and 1785. When visiting the viewing platform, children learn about Berlin's history in a playful way and discover the city from a completely new perspective. The climb is well worth it – once at the top, visitors are rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view over the rooftops of the capital.

When is admission to the Französicher Dom free of charge?

Admission is free for children and teenagers up to the age of 18 on the first Sunday of every month.

You will find our viewing platform on the beautiful Gendarmenmarkt, more precisely in the Französischer Dom. Our address is: Französischer Dom, Gendarmenmarkt 7, 10117 Berlin-Mitte.

Who is our offer aimed at?

Our offer is for children and young people up to the age of 18 (free admission); young people aged 14 and over may visit the cathedral unaccompanied.

Where or how do I book this offer?

Is there an audio guide?

Yes, we have an audio guide for children and adults, which can be purchased for €3.

Please note: The audio guide only works with a smartphone, so please bring your own headphones if necessary.

How do we get to the Französischer Dom by public transport?

The Französischer Dom (French Cathedral) on Gendarmenmarkt is easily accessible:

  • Subway: U2, U6 (Stadtmitte) – 3 minutes' walk
  • Subway: U2 (Hausvogteiplatz) – 4 minutes' walk
  • Bus: 147, 265, 300 (Gendarmenmarkt) – directly at the cathedral
  • S-Bahn: S1, S2, S25, S26 (Brandenburger Tor or Friedrichstraße) – 10 minutes' walk
